Required, conditional or prudent to carry?

A document not requested during an online application may still be needed later. A paid application or issued visa does not guarantee admission. Ask your airline about the complete itinerary rather than checking only the final flight.

Start with the passport and visa together

Visit Saudi’s eVisa terms require at least six months of passport validity from entry and use of the same passport on arrival. Check any additional advice from the authority responsible for your passport, as well as transit requirements. Do not copy a French recommendation as though it applies to every reader.

Compare the name, passport number, nationality, birth date and expiry character by character. Check the issued visa’s entries, validity and permitted stay separately; one year of visa validity does not mean a one-year stay. Save the visa attachment offline and print a copy—the eVisa terms require carrying a copy at the first arrival. If your passport changes, obtain official guidance before assuming the old visa transfers automatically.

Keep the return or onward journey clear

Choose a departure consistent with the stay permitted by your visa and any seasonal restrictions. Carry the full confirmation, including a separately booked onward flight. An unpaid reservation or a screenshot missing the passenger name may not establish what you expect it to.

Check transit entry requirements if you change airports, collect baggage or use separate tickets. An international arrival followed by a Saudi domestic flight may involve immigration, baggage and a new check-in. Travellers from Europe, the UK, Canada and the US should assess each connection using their actual nationality and documents, not merely the departure airport.

Keep hotel details for every city

Save dates, the property’s full address and telephone number, and the name of the lead guest. Check that a late-night arrival still matches the hotel’s booked night. For accommodation provided by relatives or friends, carry the actual address and reachable contact details.

In a group booking, each pilgrim should be able to identify where they are staying. Do not leave the only confirmation on the organiser’s phone. Keep the address in Arabic as well as English for transfers, and tell the hotel if arrival plans change.

Check what the insurance actually covers

Download the certificate for any medical cover associated with the visa. Find the policy number, insurer, cover dates, limits, exclusions, assistance number and instructions for treatment or hospital admission. “Included” is not a description of benefits.

Do not assume that this cover also pays for trip cancellation, lost baggage or every repatriation scenario. Check any separate travel policy, including pre-existing conditions and the effect of government travel advice. A domestic health plan or European health card should not be assumed to provide the cover you need in Saudi Arabia. Compare actual policy terms and avoid paying twice for identical benefits. Health records: check the current Saudi document

The Ministry’s 1447H (2026) document, checked on 2 September 2026, requires Umrah travellers from all countries to receive a meningococcal vaccine covering ACYW at least ten days before arrival. It gives five-year validity for ACYW or ACYWX conjugate vaccines and three years for ACYW polysaccharide vaccine.

It separately specifies certificate requirements for listed countries and asks that vaccine type and date be recorded; an unspecified type is treated as valid for three years. Carry an official record and confirm the documentation expected for your route. Do not assume a rule about selected countries removes the general vaccination requirement.

Polio, yellow-fever and COVID-19 requirements may depend on arrival countries or individual health categories. Consult the complete current document and a travel-health professional well before departure, including for children, pregnancy or chronic illness. A nationality alone does not describe your full travel history.

Residents abroad and children need their own checks

If you are not a citizen of the country you are returning to, verify the accepted evidence of your right to re-enter. A European residence permit, UK immigration status, Canadian status or US permanent residence involves different systems. Check the official authority for your own situation and make sure any digital record is linked to the passport used.

For a child, check the departure country, airline and any transit rules about consent, parental responsibility and proof of relationship. Organise originals and two kinds of backup

Keep the required originals in a secure personal pouch. Carry a separate paper set of essential visa, ticket, hotel, insurance and vaccination details, and protected offline digital copies on each traveller’s device where appropriate. A dead battery or lack of roaming should not make your visa inaccessible.

Share sensitive documents only with people who genuinely need them. Redact unnecessary numbers before sending practical information to a group and do not post full passports or permit codes in a group chat. Review the folder once more after any flight, hotel or passport change.
