Frequently Asked Questions on Pilgrim Packing
What toiletries are allowed while in the state of Ihram?
All soaps, shampoos, deodorants, and moisturizers must be certified 100% fragrance-free (no synthetic perfumes, nor aromatic essential oils). Natural alum crystal stones and unscented hypoallergenic soaps are highly recommended.
Where should hair-cutting scissors and nail clippers be placed?
They must strictly be packed in your checked hold baggage. Any cutting or sharp item will be confiscated at airport cabin security checkpoints.
How much cash should pilgrims bring to Saudi Arabia?
International debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted almost everywhere, including taxis and convenience stores. Bringing around 300 to 500 SAR (approx. $80 to $130 USD / £65 to £105 GBP) in cash is sufficient for tips and small purchases.
